YOUNGDEAL: Youth responses to COVID19 by Green Deal

YOUNGDEAL: Youth responses to COVID19 by Green Deal.

"YOUNGDEAL: Youth responses to COVID19 by Green Deal" is a European network of cities that aims to promote a new narrative for Europe. Specifically, YOUNGDEAL will encourage Europe's younger generation to reflect on the future of Europe after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the face of the major challenges it faces in relation to the green transition and sustainable development goals. In this regard, the civic participation of young people is critical to achieving these goals and represents a unique opportunity to address the social consequences caused by the pandemic in order to make the European context more resilient to potential new crises. In addition, given the key role that the younger generation plays in the current scenario, the project aims to raise young people's awareness of their civic responsibility regarding the current crisis and their role as agents of change.

Main activities

In relation to the main objectives of the CERV program, YOUNGDEAL will encourage cooperation between 8 different municipalities and the exchange of best practices in civic education, youth participation, youth volunteering and green transition. The project will consist of 8 international participatory events in the different partner cities (each event will have more than 300 participants). At each event, participants will discuss how the European Union is addressing current environmental and social challenges and reflect on what their role is as European citizens at the local level.

In addition, as required by the CERV program, planned activities will include lectures, workshops, open discussions, debates, but also some more dynamic alternative activities to create a stimulating environment: role-playing games, creative LAB, open cineforums, photo tours, etc.

The specific goals of YOUNGDEAL will be:

- Increase citizen participation of young people in the ecological transition to overcome the current social crisis caused by covid19;

- Discuss and reflect on the role that young people play in ecological transition and in shaping the future of Europe.

- Exchange experiences and ideas among young people from different European cities and realities to build solid arguments on the future of Europe and ecological transition;

- Increase young people's awareness of their civic responsibility regarding the current crisis and their role as agents of change.

- Deepen the role of European citizens and cities in achieving the goals of the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
